ANTPHONE+12/24 VDC (RED)Negative (–) (BLACK)Cellular5412-P®CA-NEXWARNING: Do not power up the amplifier without a properlyconnected dual-band cellular antenna having maximum 3dB (7dBi)gain. Damage could result that is not covered by warranty.Step 1: Selecting a location for the CA-NEXNOTICE: Directly wired vehicle antennas must be mounted aminimum distance of 20 cm (7.87") away from the body of any user ornearby persons and the antenna.Choose a mounting location for the CA-NEX that is clean and dry, and away fromfuel vapors and excessive heat. The amplifier should be within 5' of the cellphone, and not mounted on the outside of the boat or vehicle. Do not mount theCA-NEX near the engine.Step 2: Mounting the CA-NEXUse machine screws, wood screws, etc., as appropriate to mount the amplifiersecurely. Use caution to avoid drilling through or near fuel lines, fuel tanks, hydraulic lines, or electrical wiring. Mount the CA-NEX so that it does notinterfere with safe operation of the vessel or vehicle. Do not apply DC powerbefore connecting the antenna.Step 3: Connect your cellular antennaAttach the TNC connector from the antenna to the amplifier’s “ANT” terminal. For optimum performance and compatibility with cellular service providerrequirements, the CA-NEX requires a dual-band antenna of no more than 3dB(7dBi) gain. Shakespeare’s Galaxy® series antennas (sold separately) offerlengths and configurations for most application. To meet the FCC exposure guidelines, the antenna should beinstalled so there is at least 20 cm of separation between the body ofthe user or nearby persons and the antennaStep 4: Connect your phone’s adapter cableAttach a Shakespeare Cell Phone Adapter cable (sold separately) to theamplifier’s “PHONE” terminal.Step 5: Connect 12/24 VDC PowerFor safety, disconnect the electrical system before continuing by removing thenegative (-) lead.Be extremely careful that the polarity of your installation is correct and thatthe amplifier’s RED lead connects to battery positive (+) and that theamplifier’s BLACK lead connects to battery negative (-).The amplifier should be connected to a circuit that is powered down with thevessel or vehicle. For vehicles, choose a circuit that is fused or circuit-breakerprotected and ignition-switched (often referred to as “accessory output”). Forboats, connect the amplifier to a circuit breaker or the power panel. It should notbe connected through the ignition circuits on boats. After double-checking that polarity is correct, reconnect the electrical systemground. The CA-NEX works with 12/24 volt systems only.WARNING: Use only a 3-amp replacement fuse. Use of a higher value fusewill cause serious damage to the amplifier and/or your vessel’s or vehicle’selectrical system and is not covered by warranty.Cellular antennaCA-NEX amplifierCell phoneadapter cableCell phoneCable toantennaShakespeare cell amplifiers are made in USA under exclusive license from Motorola.
